Browsing in Spectacular 3D Images with Cooliris
When I was a little girl, I always imagined what it would be like living after the year 2000 and beyond. It seemed a long way off back then, yet I have always loved futuristic type things as much as ancient things, so my imagination was free to run wild. Computers were of course a household item, and everyone had one. I also imagined a world with no famine, and poverty was non-existant, yet we cannot always get what we want in our fantasies of a perfect world. War was a thing of the past, lessons learned and a peaceful populous living in peace surrounded by a natural world well preserved and cared for. People walked (or glided) through life with modern conveniences surrounding us, saving us time and energy to pursue other more interesting activities.
Now I am living that dream where futuristic gadgets are a reality, and every day something new is brought to my fascinated attention. What am I checking out today??
The Great 3D Wall of Cooliris
Well, I have my curious eye on the browsing capabilities of Cooliris, which is still in the beta stage of development and refinement. What do you say to transforming your browser into a lightning fast, cinematic way to discover the World Wide Web? Cooliris has a plug-in that takes you to an expansive “3D Wall” which provides a visually stunning way which will allow you to browse thousands of images, videos, and more with ease and speed.
Just launch Cooliris by clicking their icon while visiting supported websites. They bring our experience of searching to a whole new and exciting level! Search Google Images, YouTube, Flickr, Hulu, DeviantART, and much more with their built-in search bar to quickly scan the breathtaking results on the infinite 3D Wall. One can use Cooliris as a standalone application, or when visiting any one of hundreds of supported websites such as Friendster, MySpace, Photobucket, Kodak Gallery, Picasa Web Albums, Bebo, Getty Images or just about any site that supports Media RSS. How cool is that!

Use their Discover feature to channel surf the latest Technologies, News, Sports, and Entertainment. You can even watch your favourite Movies, TV shows and Music Videos using the right within the Discover feature!
Search with Style and Ease
With their search function we can zip right through search results on their nifty and totally cool 3D Wall, and even switch Engines effortlessly withou having to re-enter the search term.
Window shop some of the world’s largest retailers by comparing products visually on the Cooliris 3D Wall. Simply highlight an item to learn the price, or click the shopping cart icon to jump to the corresponding product page of the retailer.
Which browsers does Cooliris support?
Cooliris currently supports Firefox (Windows XP/Vista and Mac), Internet Explorer, and Safari (Mac).
Will Cooliris support Linux anytime soon?
The ideal plan is to eventually make the Firefox version work cross-platform, but its timing is not yet clear due to current resource constraints. As you can imagine, making Cooliris work across all platforms is tough work for such a small team. They are trying to make sure their currently supported platforms are fully stabilized and robust before supporting other platforms. The Cooliris team totally appreciates your support and understanding.
What about support for Opera or Safari on Windows?
Opera and Safari (Windows) are fantastic browsers, and one can understand why users love them. However, due to resource constraints, the Cooliris team needs to wait until the user base for these two browsers grows a bit.
My Final Thoughts
Well then, what do I think? I totally love the concept of Cooliris and their 3D Wall! What a great way to place everything right in front of me, with the convenience of browsing with such speed and finesse. I love how we can customize the look and feel of Cooliris by modifying the number of rows, the background image, wall angle, slideshow speed and so much more. I truly believe that once they work out all the bugs and get this baby rolling, that it will be very popular, and will pave the way for even cooler innovations to bring a higher level of enjoyment to our browsing experience. I am always amazed and delighted when I find new advancing technologies to play with and share with my friends and family!
I will be testing this out more extensively myself, and will be more than willing to post about my results. If anyone happens along here and has some feedback, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you!

Thank you for your review of Cooliris. I have been a user for the past 6-7 months and I have watched the product evolve from a very impressive layer on top of Google and Flickr to one that has some amazing features. I think they are about to leapfrog the browsers of today and replace them. You are so right – Cooliris showcases what the next generation browser can be and should be, and this is just the start.
Great! It is good to find a happy user of this totally cool browser. I feel that web development is gaining such a rapid momentum, and our browsing abilities and features need to keep up.
