My first day in Second Life

Finally! I couldn’t enter the Virtual World of Second Life when I first discovered it, as my computer was not compatable. Now that I have a new computer, and a great new upgrade on my video card, I am all set to go. Although I have been spending my play time in Tabula Rasa, I am happy to finally get a chance to explore Second Life as well.

I am still learning the ropes, yet I can see the exciting possiblilities. We are fortunate in that when we first enter the world, we arrive on a great little island full of tutorials. This gives us a chance to tweak with our Avatar until we are happy with our appearance. We can create our look, from head to toe, giving us the opportunity to express our own unique personalities. We are given an inventory folder with some accessories to get us going, so until we are comfortable with designing our own fashions, or can earn some Linden$ to buy something new, we at least have the option to wear something besides the starting outfit. I must say, my girl Geni is stylin’ and looks pretty sharp!

Right at the beginning island we are given a tutorial on how to build. I did give it a try, learning the basics, so when I am ready to take the next step I am at least a bit familiar with the process. I have a huge imagination, and I love to figure out how things work, so this will be an exciting adventure in itself. I love to build! I was even given a free house, which is pretty cool.

We are able to travel around, and we can even fly! Although we are a bit limited without Linden$, we are given handouts from money trees, and one or two other options. I have no wish to remain a beggar, so I am seriously considering upgrading to a premium account, as the amount for this option is quite reasonable, and totally worth it in my own opinion. We can get a job to earn Linden$, or start a career if we wish. People are pretty friendly, so don’t be shy about asking questions. Just watch out for sharks, as just like in real life, some people aren’t totally honest. Be careful, and you won’t get burned.

There are many places to explore, and as I am still totally new to this experience, I am ready to get out there and see what else this world has to offer. My friend Jordi over at Hiperia3D News has a Quickstart Guide to Second Life if you wish to check it out. Although I met Jordi elsewhere, he is my first friend in SL. If you are already a citizen, feel free to look me up. My name in Second Life is Genifer Quintessa. Enjoy!

  1. Hi Teri,

You can get 20 L$ here: Sellaband
It’s the world of Sellaband, a website that sells music in Second Life. There’s a stair that goes into the water and has discs in the floor. Each one is linked to a musician’s work so you can listen them. You can stop where you like and listen all or just one or two. At the end of the stair you can fill a survey and they give you L$20 in the act. If you don’t receive it, just fill the survey again in the 2nd survey table, sometimes it happens. With that money, you can upload 2 images (for example, one for your 2nd life profile and other for your 1st life profile.

To get more money, you can join Earn2Life, that is a site that pays you to fill some survey on SL (while in-world) or to visit places. You just do what you like, and they pay you L$.
    Second Life Surveys
This link is like an affiliate, if you join through it you may be listed as a disciple of mine, so I can help you better, and we can interchange information. Anyway, you can just join through the main domain url.
You can install a HUD that will allow you to get opportunities. You can get from 20 to 100 L$ per each task.
There are other ways, like selling programming scripts, textures, etc.

Maybe if we coincide in-world, I can show you what I found.
